Circana this month said Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 5 ranked as a top-selling video game hardware in the latest domestic retail data.

For the month of Apr. 2026, the PS5 ranked as the No. 2 best-selling video game hardware in both units and dollar sales.

In Q4, the PS5 hardware shipments declined 46.4 percent to 1.5 million units compared to the year prior. Hardware sales totaled to 93.7 million units to date.

PS5 and PS4 software sales totaled 74.6 million units in the period, a decline of two percent compared to one year ago. Digital game purchases totaled to 85 percent of software sales.

The Game and Network Services segment, which includes the PlayStation business, held net sales of $7.1 billion, a decline of three percent year-over-year. The division held operating income of $630 million, a 12 percent decline from the prior year.

The PlayStation Network held 124 million active users in Q4.
