ASUS this week demonstrated the ROG XREAL R1, the world’s first 240Hz micro-OLED FHD spatial gaming glasses.
In the demonstration, I sat in a racing seat with steering wheel and strapped on the ROG XREAL R1 glasses. A large projection, said to default to a 171-inch display, projected in front of the user. While the virtual image can swing with the movement of your head, the glasses were set to Anchor Mode which centered the display for a standard view.
Following the setup it was off to the races in Assetto Corsa, a racing simulation title. The ROG XREAL R1 was able to project a bright, static, and high refresh rate during the race at a more impressive quality than prior spatial glasses tested.
The R1 did require a wired connection but were light and comfortable to wear. The final unit will include the ROG Control Deck to alternate output between a console and gaming PC.
The ROG XREAL R1 will be sold in 2026.
