Retail stores this week began pre-order sales for Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 5 Pro.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is a premium console that will include an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing and upscaling functionality.
The PS5 Pro will include an upgraded GPU with 67 percent more Compute Units and 28 percent faster memory than the standard PS5. Advanced ray tracing will offer greater dynamic lighting at twice the speed of the PS5. Also, PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution will employ AI-driven upscaling for sharper image quality and detail. Finally, the hardware will include a 2TB hard drive and Wi-Fi 7. A disc drive accessory for physical games will be sold separately.
Titles that take advantage of new PS5 Pro upgrades will include a ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ badge. Initial titles include Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered.
Current PS5 controllers and accessories are backwards compatible to the PS5 Pro.
The PS5 Pro will launch Nov. 7 at $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY. Pre-orders will begin on Sept. 26.
