Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 5 ranked as the No. 2 top-selling video game hardware in the latest retail data from Japan.
Famitsu this month said the PS5 10,799 units to rank as the No. 2 hardware between Sept. 23 and Sept. 29.
For the period, the PS5 sold 8,978 units and the PS5 Digital Edition sold 1,821 units.
In Q1, the PS5 sold 2.4 million units, a 27 percent decline from 3.3 million units one year prior. PS5 sales to date total to 61.6 million units.
PS5 and PS4 software sales totaled 53.6 million units in the period, an 18 percent increase from the prior year. Digital game purchases totaled to 80 percent of software sales.
The Game and Network Services segment, which includes the PlayStation business, held revenue of $5.8 billion, 12 percent above the prior year.
The PlayStation Network held 116 million active users in Q1.
