Microsoft completes Zenimax acquisition

Microsoft Corp. this week said it has completed acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, for $7.5 billion.

The purchase includes the acquisition of development studios Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.

The development studios are responsible for high-profile game franchises including The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, DOOM, Dishonored, Prey, and Quake.

Microsoft said it will add Bethesda franchises to Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC. Future Bethesda titles will be included in Xbox Game Pass the same day they drop to retail. In addition, some new titles will be exclusive to Xbox and PC users.
