Sony Corp. this week announced it will discontinue movie and TV purchases and rentals from the PlayStation Network.

It will end movie and TV purchases and rentals Aug. 31.

Customers will be able to access previously purchased movie and TV content from PS4 and PS5 devices.

The company cited growth from subscription and ad-based streaming services on PlayStation consoles.
