Capcom Co., Ltd.’s Resident Evil Village Maiden demo to Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 5 is an impressive showcase of the new hardware including 4K resolution and 60FPS fidelity.

Maiden, a visual demo to preview the world of Resident Evil Village, ranges from a dark and dank prison cell to an ornate mansion, both of which further the level the detail introduced in the RE Engine found in Resident Evil 7.

The mansion itself harkens back to the grand foyer in Resident Evil, complete with rich wood grains and a marble floor, now enhanced with ray tracing generated from the flames from the fireplace.

At a stand still, Resident Evil Village stages could be mistaken for the detailed rendered backgrounds found in the original Resident Evil entries, now in 3D, 4K, and 60FPS.

PS5 3D Audio is exceptional in the game, with a scattershot of ambient noises from water drips to wood creaks.

The Maiden demo includes a character called the Maiden who users must guide to escape the dungeon.

The visual demo does not include combat found in the final game.

In Resident Evil Village, Ethan Winters and his wife Mia encounter Chris Refield, who’s actions require Ethan to enter a mysterious snow-covered village.

Like RE7, Resident Evil Village utilizes a first-person perspective.

Combat will include firearms, weapon customization, blocking, crafting, and a new kick action.

Finally, Resident Evil Village will include Resident Evil: Re:Verse, a new online multiplayer deathmatch title for 4-6 players.
