Xbox Series X|S pre-order sold out at Japan retail

Microsoft Corp. this week sold out of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S in a scheduled pre-order sale that began Sept. 25 at 12AM.

Amazon.com JP sold out of the Xbox Series X in about 20 minutes and the Xbox Series S within one hour.

Retailer Yodobashi sold out of the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S in roughly one hour.

Finally, the Microsoft Store Japan had difficulty processing payments to fulfill pre-order sales.

The Xbox Series X will include an 8-core 3.8Ghz Custom Zen 2 CPU, 12TFLOPS 1.825 Ghz Custom RDNA 2 GPU by AMD, 16GB GDDR6 RAM, 1TB Custom NVME SSD, USB 3.2 External HDD Support, and a 4K UHD Blu-ray disc drive at $499.99.

Graphics fidelity includes 4K at 60FPS, up to 120FPS fidelity, Variable Refresh Rate, Variable Rate Shading, 8K functionality.

The Xbox Series S includes an 8-Core AMD Zen 2 CPU at 3.6Ghz and 3.4Ghz w/ SMT Enabled, AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 20 Compute Units at 1.565Ghz and 4TFLOPS of GPU power, 10GB GDDR6 RAM, and a 512 PCIe Gen 4 NVME SSD at $299.99.

Graphics fidelity includes 1440p at up 120FPS, DirectX ray tracing, Variable Refresh Rate, Variable Rate Shading. 4K streaming media playback and 4K upscaling for games.

The Xbox Series X will be sold at ¥49,980 and Xbox Series S will be sold at ¥29,980 Nov. 10.
