Nintendo Switch No. 1; Super Mario Party guards No. 2 in Japan

Sales for Nintendo Co., Ltd.’s Nintendo Switch hardware ranked No. 1 in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.

Media Create Co., Ltd. this month reported that the Nintendo Switch sold 42,148 units between Oct. 15 to Oct. 21 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.

It sold 44,070 units the week prior.

Super Mario Party ranked as the No. 2 software selling 36,381 units for the week.

In Q1, Nintendo recorded an operating profit of $272 million from $1.51 billion in revenue.

Between Apr. to June, the Nintendo Switch has sold 1.88 million units.

In addition, it sold 17.96 million units of software in the period.

The company expects to sell 20 million Nintendo Switch units by the end of Mar. 2019.
