Nintendo Co., Ltd. this week disclaimed that Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers for the Nintendo Switch can only be used to play NES titles.

The company this week said NES Controllers usage is limited to NES titles offered with the Nintendo Switch Online membership.

In addition, the controllers can only be used when detached from the Nintendo Switch hardware.

The new wireless NES Controller is sold in a pair to Nintendo Switch Online members at $59.99.

Each controller can be charged via attachment to the Nintendo Switch.

Shipments will begin in mid-Dec. 2018.

Nintendo Switch Online is a paid service that provides access to online play.

In addition, the paid service offers a selection of Nintendo Entertainment System titles with added online play. Launch titles include Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros. Soccer, Super Mario Bros., and Tennis.

Finally, the service offers Save Data Cloud Backup to save data online.
