Nintendo Co., Ltd. this week detailed the Nintendo Switch Online service.
Nintendo Switch Online is a paid service that provides access to online play. Titles including Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8, Mario Tennis, and Sushi Striker: Way of Sushido will require a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
In addition, paid service will offer a selection of Nintendo Entertainment System titles with added online play. Launch titles include Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros. Soccer, Super Mario Bros., and Tennis.
Finally, the service offers Save Data Cloud Backup to save and access save data online.
A 1-Month membership will cost $3.99, 3-Month at $7.99 and 12-Month at $19.99. A 12-Month Family membership with up to seven members will cost $34.99.
The service is only for the Nintendo Switch and will not include the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS.
Memberships will be sold at Nintendo.com, the Nintendo eShop and select retailers in Sept.
Nintendo sold 15.05 million Nintendo Switch units in the fiscal year ending Mar. The hardware has sold 17.78 million units to date.
Nintendo Switch software sales totaled 63.51M units in the same period.
The company expects to sell 20M Nintendo Switch units next fiscal year.
