Advanced sales for Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Final Fantasy XIII for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 increased this week amid an outage of Sony Corp.’s Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
On Mon., the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 SKU held a 40 percent sales increase to rank at No. 15 in Amazon.com’s Video Games division.
Sony this week said that a clock-based software bug has prevented PS3 owners from accessing the PSN online service.
The company says owners of older PS3 units should not attempt to log in to their PSN account to prevent errors in functionality.
The network outage is said to have occurred in several regions, including North America, Europe, and Australia.
Final Fantasy XIII will be released to the PS3 and Xbox 360 Mar. 9.
Microsoft in Mar. will sell the Xbox 360 Elite Final Fantasy XIII bundle at U.S. retail.
The Xbox 360 Elite Final Fantasy XIII bundle will include a Xbox 360 250GB Elite hardware, two wireless controllers, AV cable, headset, network cable and a copy of Final Fantasy XIII at $399.99.
