Retailer Toys R Us Inc. this week began offering a free Blu-ray remote with the purchase of Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3.

In the new offer, customers who purchase a PS3 120GB SKU will receive a Sony PS3 Blu-ray remote at no additional cost.

The remote typically sells at $24.99.

Meanwhile, Amazon.com this month discounted Blu-ray titles by up to 60 percent in a new high-definition promotion.

Also, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. this month dropped a Blu-ray player to $78 in a new in-store and online sale.

Sony in Nov. began sale of the PS3 250GB model, which includes a 250GB hard drive at $349.99.

The PS3 120GB SKU sells at $299.99.
