Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii held above console rivals in latest Japan retail sales data.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 17,177 units between June 1 and June 7.

This month, Nintendo released the Wii MotionPlus, a new accessory that will provide more accurate motion-sensitive controls. It carries an MSRP of $19.99.

Wii Sports Resort, a title to utilize the new Wii MotionPlus, will be sold in July.

In June, it showcased new titles to be released in 2009, including New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Wii Fit Plus
