Britney Spears’ latest single ‘Womanizer‘ made a historic leap to the No. 1 rank on the Billboard Hot 100 charts this week from strong digital download sales.
Womanizer, previously at No. 96, jumped to the No. 1 spot this week. The single, released on Oct. 3, sold in excess of 275,000 in the first six days of release.
Spears debuted the video for the lead single on ABC’s 20/20 news program last week.
Womanizer is the first single off the forthcoming album Circus, due out Dec. 2.
The track was produced by Atlanta-based The Outsyders.
Spears will take part in a 90-minute documentary feature, Britney: On The Record, to air on MTV on Nov. 30. The film will detail the pop star’s comeback following rehab, a divorce, a psychiatric hold, and losing custody of her two children.
In Aug., she received three MTV Video Music Awards, including ‘Video of the Year’ for ‘Piece of Me’ off the 2007 album Blackout.
