Week recap: PS3 160GB; Xbox 360 streak; Wii supply

Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked last in the latest Japan retail sales figures. The hardware held a rank of No. 6 in overall sales.

Sony this week said that PS3 sales are 30 percent better than expected. The hardware may see a shortage in supply at retail.

Advanced sales for the PS3 160GB SKU soared upon availability at Amazon.com. The premium bundle will be sold in Nov. for $499.99.

Hudson Entertainment this week said that it will blast Bomberman Ultra to the Playstation Network. The title will include eight-player online multiplayer support.

LittleBigPlanet this week ranked in the top 20 sales at Amazon.com on high demand. The title will be released in Oct.

Sega Corp. this month said that it will release the Valkyria Chronicles demo to the Playstation Network in a new episode of Qore. The title will be released in Nov.

Advanced sales for the Resistance 2 Collector’s Edition SKU increased this week at retail. The Collector’s SKU retails for $79.99.

IGA Worldwide and Activision Publishing Inc. this week said that IGA will deliver in-game advertising to Activision titles published to the PS3.

A free Lego Batman promo kicked the Xbox 360 Arcade to the top 25 sales at Amazon this week. The offer includes Lego Batman free with the purchase of the 360 Arcade SKU.

Nintendo Co.’s Wii ranked as the No. 2 best-selling hardware in the latest Japan weekly sales. Wii ranked two titles in the top 10 software sales.

The Nintendo DS outsold the PSP more than 2-to-1 in the latest Japan charts. Additionally, the DS ranked four titles in the top 10.
