Advanced pre-orders for Sony Corp.’s 160GB Playstation Bundle soared at Amazon.com on Fri. as the retailer began taking orders for the premium hardware SKU.
Sales for the PS3 160 Bundle increased 4,347 percent to rank as the No. 21 best-selling product in Amazon’s Video Games division on Fri.
Announced in Aug., the limited edition bundle will include the title Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a Playstation Network voucher for Pain, and a Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller for $499.99.
Amazon this month price cut both the PS3 Bluetooth headset to $39.96 and the PS3 Wireless Keypad to $39.96, down from an MSRP of $49.99 each.
Additionally, it price cut the PS3 Dualshock 3 controller to $40.96.
Sony this week said that sales for the Playstation 3 and the PSP are better than expected and may see a shortage at retail.
The PS3 sold 185,400 units to rank at No. 5 in U.S. Aug. hardware sales, according to NPD Group Inc.
