Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked last in overall hardware sales in the latest Japan retail figures.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PS3 sold 8,275 units between Sept. 22 and Sept. 28.
The hardware ranked No. 6 in overall sales.
The PS3 ranked two titles in the top 10, X Edge at No. 7 and Aquanaut’s Holiday at No. 10.
Sony this week said that sales for the PS3 and the PSP are better than expected and may see a shortage at retail.
The company estimates to fulfill 80 to 90 percent of demand.
It expects to meet a 10 million sales target by fiscal Mar. 2009.
The PS3 sold 185,400 units to rank at No. 5 in U.S. Aug. hardware sales, according to NPD Group Inc.
