Nintendo Co.’s Wii ranked as the No. 2 best-selling hardware in the latest Japan hardware tally.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 26,314 units between Sept. 22 and Sept. 28.
Additionally, Wii ranked two titles in the top 10 software sales, including Wii Fit and Disaster Day of Crisis.
Nintendo this week said that it will significantly increase supply of the Wii this holiday in the U.S. to meet demand for the console.
The company this week unveiled several key titles to be released in 2009 to Wii, including a new version of the boxing title Punch Out!! and the sequel Sin & Punishment 2.
Nintendo in Sept. said that the Wii ranked as the No. 2 game hardware in Aug. according to NPD Group Inc.
To date sales the Wii have reached nearly 12 million units in the U.S.
