Fable 2 Limited Edition Xbox 360 price cut to $69.99

Retailer Amazon.com on Thurs. price cut Microsoft Corp.’s Fable 2 Limited Edition for the Xbox 360 to under $70 in the latest wave of video game discounts.

Fable 2 Limited Edition was price cut to $69.99, a 13 percent discount from a pre-sale list price of $79.99.

Fable 2, to be released on Oct. 21, is the follow-up to the Xbox hit Fable. The new role-playing title will feature a world 10 times the size of the original and new multiplayer options.

Amazon in Aug. said that it will offer a new release-date delivery option for select video game titles, including Fable 2 and Gears of War 2.

Retailer Amazon.com in Sept. discounted a range of Xbox Live and Xbox 360 products to spur sales.

Last month, it price cut the Xbox Live 12-month Gold subscription for $38.96, a 22 percent discount from a $49.99 MSRP.

Additionally, it discounted the Xbox Live 4000 Points SKU to $39.97, down from $49.99, and the Xbox Live 1600 Points SKU to $15.97, down from $19.99.

Lastly, it discounted the Xbox 360 wireless controller to $36.96, a 26 percent price cut from the $49.99 MSRP.

The Xbox 360 sold 195,200 units in Aug. to rank at No. 4 in overall hardware sales, according to NPD Group Inc.
