The Transformers ranked as the No. 1 best-selling Blu-ray disc at Amazon on Sat. at the end of its debut week to U.S. retail.
The 2-disc special edition set ranked at No. 1 in Amazon’s Blu-ray division, ahead of Iron Man and Heroes Season 2.
The title carries a discounted price of $24.95.
The Transformers was released exclusively on Toshiba Corp.’s defunct HD DVD format in 2007.
Toshiba this month began selling the new XD-E500 upconvert DVD player in an effort to capitalize on consumers unwilling to invest in Sony Corp.’s Blu-ray format.
The player is said to provide standard DVD images closer to high-definition quality, allowing consumers to utilize their existing DVD library.
Additionally, Sony this month released the new 80GB PS3 at an aggressive $399.99, the price of its previous 40GB model.
The product includes a built-in Blu-ray disc drive for high-def movies and a new Dualshock 3 controller with rumble functionality.
