Microsoft Corp. on Wed. said that it will hold a series of Xbox Live weekends in conjunction with the EA Sports Challenge series on the Xbox 360.

The Xbox Live weekends will allow members to join in sports-related activities in select sports sessions throughout the year.

The program will start on Aug. 28 and run through Mar. 2008 and include titles NCAA Football 09, Madden NFL 09, NBA Live 09, NASCAR 09.

“Xbox 360 is thrilled to partner with EA Sports for this campaign to help enhance the fan experience through gaming,” said Mike Fischer, General Manager.

“Sports video games are a way for sports fans to extend their passion for sports and Xbox Live is the ultimate way to connect with friends and family around the world, making the two a perfect fit. When fans are not on the playing field and or watching the game on TV, they can turn on their Xbox 360 and play with their favorite team over Xbox Live.”

In Aug., it began selling a new 60GB model for $349.99 at retail.
