Nintendo Co.’s Wii ranked as the third best-selling video game hardware, behind more popular handhelds in the latest Japan retail charts.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 40,803 units between July 14 and July 20, a slight drop from 41,768 units the week prior.
Wii ranked two titles in the top 10 game sales, including Wii Fit at No. 5 and Mario Kart Wii at No. 6.
Nintendo this month showcased new titles to be released for Wii, including Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort.
It declared Wii as the No. 1- selling game console in the U.S. last week with sales of 10.9 million units to date.
Nintendo this week appealed a court decision to ban sales of the Wii Classic Controller and the GameCube controller for patent infringement from Texas-based Anascape Ltd.
