Target Corp. stores this month began holding a clearance on Sony Corp.’s Blu-ray disc player to clear inventory of the model.
Target stores price cut the BDP-S300 SKU to $360.99, a 10 percent discount from the $399.99 MSRP.
The retail chain began offering the Blu-ray disc player in holiday 2007 amid a format battle between Blu-ray and Toshiba Corp.’s HD DVD.
Target carries an alternate Blu-ray player, Sony’s Playstation 3, which carries an MSRP of $399.99 and $499.99.
Sony this month said that it will price cut the 80GB SKU to $399 this fall.
Amazon this month began offering a ‘Buy 2 Get 1 Free‘ Blu-ray disc sale.
More than 100 titles are eligible for the offer, including The Transporter, American Psycho, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Die Hard, and Rescue Dawn.
