Sony sells multi-part PS3 horror game via download

July 24th, 2008 · No Comments

Sony Corp.’s U.S. game division on Thurs. will release a new multi-part horror game title via download distribution for the Playstation 3.

Siren: Blood Curse is a survival horror title to debut exclusively on the Playstation Network. The 12-episode title will be sold in 4-episode packs for $14.99 each.

Consumers can also purchase the entire title for $39.99.

Siren: Blood Curse is said to be a full-scale game on par with a standard Blu-ray disc retail release.

Previously, Sony sold the title Warhawk at retail and online. The retail version added a Bluetooth headset in the SKU.

In the title, an American TV crew travels to Japan to shoot a documentary about a village that disappeared in a mud slide 30 years ago.

Sony this month launched a brand new video download store on the Playstation Network to offer downloadable standard and HD movie and TV titles on the PS3.

Content partners include Warner Bros., MGM, Fox, Lionsgate, and Disney.

In a continued effort to bolster online offerings, it will launch a new social networking option called Home for the PS3 this fall.

Sony last week said that sales for the PS3 were 84 percent higher than Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 in June U.S. sales, buoyed by Konami Corp.’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
