Amazon.com this week began offering a new Buy 2 Get 1 Free Blu-ray disc sale in the latest promotion for the high-definition format.
More than 100 titles are eligible for the offer, including The Transporter, American Psycho, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Die Hard, and Rescue Dawn.
Advanced orders for upcoming Blu-ray disc titles increased in June at Amazon as consumers invest in high-definition versions of future home releases.
Top-sellers include Iron Man (Special Collector’s Edition) Blu-ray disc and the Transformers Blu-ray disc. The Blu-ray format declared victory over Toshiba Corp.’s HD DVD format in Feb.
In addition to Amazon, retailers including Target Corp., Circuit City Stores Inc. and Netflix Inc. back the Blu-ray format.
