2K Games, a label of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. on Wed. said that the title Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution is now available for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, and Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo DS.
Civilization Revolution is the first title in the series created specifically for console and handheld hardware.
The title is said to offer fast pick-up-and-play action, a tutorial for newcomers, and various difficulty levels.
Additionally, the strategy title will include online multiplayer action via Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection services.
“It’s really exciting to bring the Civilization series to the console and handheld market in a whole new way,” said Sid Meier, director of creative development at Firaxis Games.
“By starting the design from scratch, we were able to ensure Civilization Revolution has the fast paced aspect console gamers crave, while still delivering the strategic element fans of the series expect.”
Civilization debuted on the PC in 1991. The latest expansion title, Civilization IV: Colonization, will be released to the PC in Q3 2008.
