Best Buy Co. Inc. stores this week began selling a new all-in-one PC from Sony Corp. that includes a Blu-ray disc drive.
The PC / HDTV with 22″ widescreen LCD includes an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100, 3GB DDR2 RAM, 640GB hard drive, and a slot loading drive that reads and writes Blu-ray discs.
Additionally, the product incldues an Nvidia GeForce 8400 GT GPU, and 802.11 N technology.
The item is selling for $1699.99 this week, a $300 discount from the MSRP.
The placement in the latest Sun. circular is part of a full-age ad to promote the Blu-ray disc format. The page features a Sony 40″ 1080 LCD HDTV and the Playstation 3, which includes a Blu-ray disc drive in each unit sold.
The Blu-ray format declared victory over Toshiba Corp.’s HD DVD format in Feb.
In addition to Best Buy, retailers including Target Corp., Circuit City Stores Inc. and Netflix Inc. back the Blu-ray format.
Anticipated titles coming to the Blu-ray format include Batman Begins, Iron Man, and Transformers.
