Final: Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit a blast on Xbox 360, PS3

June 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Atari Inc.’s Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is a snappy fighter with plenty of flair for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3. The player dexterity, specials, and graphics round out a top fighting package for fans.

Burst Limit features several modes, including the Z Chronicles story mode, Versus, Trial, Tutorial, and Training.

Players have a wealth of attack options starting with the basic Rush and Smash Attack buttons that can be used in alternation for combos.

On offense, players can perform Ki blasts, throws, Super Attacks, Transform, and utilize the Aura Spark for a power burst.

On defense, players can guard, roll, and dodge. Dodge movements allow characters to reappear from behind their opponent to create another opening for attacks.

Movement is fast and fluid as characters attack, dodge, and blast like an episode in the anime series. The default controller option relays all basic movements on the face buttons for easy access, while trigger buttons offer important secondary options.

The graphics engine is sharp at 30 frames per second. Character models are well-built using a cel-shaded engine for dead-on cartoon counterparts. A focal blur in the background helps to define each fighter.

The sound engine is good with enough slap-happy sounds for each melee attack. Supers and blasts are accompanied by harsher effects.

Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is a solid fighting title for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The basic gameplay is easy to learn and there’s enough depth for advanced players to have an intense firefight in the Dragon Ball Z kingdom.
