Advanced orders for Paramount Pictures’ Iron Man lead Blu-ray sales in the latest charting data at Amazon.com.
On Sat., Iron Man ranked as the No. 1 best-selling Blu-ray disc title. The title ranked No. 14 in overall Movies & TV disc sales.
Other Blu-ray top sellers at Amazon include Batman Begins, 10,000 B.C., Cloverfield, Blade Runner, and I Am Legend.
Sony Corp. this week filed a loss of $3.3 billion related to the cost of ’strategic pricing’ for the Playstation 3 in a new filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Each PS3 sold includes a Blu-ray disc drive to view high-definition titles.
The Blu-ray format declared victory over Toshiba Corp.’s HD DVD format in Feb.
In addition to Amazon, retailers including Target Corp., Circuit City Stores Inc. and Netflix Inc. back the Blu-ray format.
