Nintendo Co.’s Wii continued to rank behind Sony Corp.’s PSP handheld in the latest Japan hardware tally.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PSP sold 59,351 units between June 16 and June 22 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the Wii sold 41,037 units in the same period to rank at No. 2.
The PSP charted the No. 1 software title for the week, Bandai Namco Inc.’s Super Robot Wars A Portable. It moved 101,712 units for the week.
Wii ranked three titles in the top 10, including Mario Stadium, Mario Kart Wii, and Wii Fit.
NPD Group Inc. this month said that the Wii sold 675,089 units in U.S. May sales to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the month.
The PSP sold 182,300 units in May U.S. sales.
