Circuit City Stores Inc. this week began offering a free Blu-ray remote when customers purchase Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Konami Inc.’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The week-long promotion coincides with the debut of Metal Gear Solid 4, released last Thurs.
The Blu-ray remote typically sells separately for $24.99.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is the latest entry in the top-selling stealth action franchise. The new title is said to be Snake’s final mission in an attempt to foil Liquid Snake and his army.
The game includes custom weapons and modifications through black market weapon trades.
Additionally, Snake’s new OctoCamo suit will allow Snake to blend in with his environment in real-time.
Each PS3 sold includes a Blu-ray disc drive to view high-definition format titles.
Retailers have begun offering aggressive discounts to promote the Blu-ray format.
Circuit City is offering a new $19.99 Blu-ray disc sale this week.
Additionally, Amazon.com last week began offering a new ‘Buy 2 Get 1 Free‘ Blu-ray disc sale amid a round of aggressive discounts to promote the high-definition format.
A total of 95 titles are eligible for the promotion include Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Spider-Man – The High-Definition Trilogy, A Knight’s Tale, Final Fantasy – The Spirits Within, and Talladega Nights.
