Konami Inc.’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots held the No. 1 sales rank at Amazon.com over the week following a lower-ranked launch day at the retailer.
The latest Metal Gear title reached No. 1 on Sat. and held the position through the weekend.
MGS4 ranked as the No. 4 title on Amazon at launch last Thurs., below Nintendo Co.’s Wii Fit, Wii, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The limited stock of the products helped MGS4 climb to a higher sales position by the weekend.
The MGS4 PS3 80GB SKU pre-sold out at Amazon and Frys.com last week.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is the latest entry in the top-selling stealth action franchise. The new title is said to be Snake’s final mission in an attempt to foil Liquid Snake and his army.
The game will include custom weapons and modifications through black market weapon trades.
Additionally, Snake’s new OctoCamo suit will allow Snake to blend in with his environment in real-time.
Finally, new high-tech gadgets include Metal Gear Mk. II reconnaissance tool and the Solid Eye to give Snake real-time information on enemies and surroundings.
Konami in May began orders for a limited edition Gun Metal Gray 40GB PS3 bundle that includes a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition.
The Limited Edition Metal Gear Solid 4 game includes Metal Gear Online, an exclusive behind-the-scenes Blu-ray disc, and CD Soundtrack.
