Best Buy to flex more Wii Fit stock

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Best Buy Co. Inc. stores will offer more stock of Nintendo Co.’sWii Fit next week.

In the latest Sun. circular to be released June 8, the retailer advertises the fitness product to customers.

Additionally it disclaims a minimum of 10 units per store.

Wii Fit has been in high demand upon debut in late May. The device includes the Wii Balance Board to facilitate more than 40 exercises.

An analyst with Wedbush Morgan Securities told the L.A. Times in May that four times the number of Wii Fit units are in Europe rather than stateside due to the weak U.S. dollar.

U.S. retailers, including Amazon.com, Best Buy Co. Inc. and Target Corp. have sold out of the item nationwide.

Wii Fit was released in Dec. 2007 in Japan and has sold more than two million units to date.

Wal-Mart pre-launch advertised the product as the ‘Perfect Mother’s Day gift’.

Meanwhile, Target in May advertised Wii Fit for sales leading into the Memorial Day weekend.
