May 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Nintendo Co.’s Wii Fit ranked in the top five game sales five months after debut in Japan.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that Wii Fit sold 36,466 units between May 19 and May 25 to rank as the No. 4 best-selling title for the week.

Wii Fit was released in Dec. 2007 in Japan and has sold more than two million units to date.

The product was released on May 21 to U.S. retailers and has since sold out at most locations.

The $89.99 Wii Fit includes the Wii Balance Board peripheral designed to sense both weight and shifts in movement and balance.

The Balance Board connects wirelessly to Wii to facilitate more than 40 exercise activities, including yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance.

Amazon sold out of product pre-orders in early May. The company says it is actively seeking more product from suppliers.

Target Corp. this week advertised Wii Fit for sales leading into the Memorial Day weekend.
