Dr. Mario, Metal Slug lead new Wii download titles

Nintendo Co. this week released a new wave of WiiWare and Virtual Console titles to the Wii home video game system.

Dr. Mario Online Rx is a 1-4 player WiiWare title that offers online multiplayer puzzle action to the classic title. New modes include Friend Battle Demo to challenge players without the game, and Virus Buster to allow four players to move capsules by pointing at them with the Wii Remote. It retails for 1,000 Wii Points.

Family Table Tennis is a 1-2 player table tennis title that includes four playable characters and various stages. The final game includes a Single or Versus mode. It retails for 500 Wii Points.

City Connection is a 1-2 player NES title that requires players to paint all highways white. Along the way, players must dodge police, cats, and spikes in their customized vehicles. It retails for 500 Wii Points.

Metal Slug is a 1-2 player Neo Geo title that features side-scrolling shooting action. Players control Marco and Tarma, members of Team Peregrine Falcon to overthrow General Morden. The title retails for 900 Wii Points.

Nintendo this month released Wii Fit to U.S. retail. The $89.99 SKU includes the Wii Balance Board to faciltate more than 40 yoga, muscle training, aerobics and balance games.

Wii is the No. 1-selling video game hardware in Apr. sales according to NPD Group Inc.
