Wal-Mart Stores Inc. this month opened a new division to sell Nintendo Co.’s Wii Fit title to online customers.
The Wii Fit Brand Shop at Walmart.com offers pre-orders for Wii Fit and accessories, including the Wii Fit Yoga Mat, Travel Storage Pack, and Protective Silcone Cover.
Wal-Mart this month began offering a free $10 gift card with any Wii Fit online pre-order.
Last week it began advertising Wii Fit as the perfect Mother’s Day gift in a broad marketing campaign.
Nintendo in Apr. said that Wii Fit will retail for $89.99 and include the Wii Balance Board to facilitate more than 40 yoga, aerobics, and strength training exercises.
The title was released in Dec. 2007 in Japan and has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the territory.
Nintendo this month said it will host a Wii Fit Launch Party at Central Park, Merchants’ Gate in New York on May 19.
