Sony Corp.’s U.S. game division on Wed. said that it will adjust pricing on Playstation Store products in Canada in an update scheduled for Thurs., May 1.
The company said that the adjustment is a result of strengthening Canadian currency and the U.S. game division’s ability to localize pricing in the Playstation Store.
“We are continually looking for ways to enhance the player experience on the Playstation Network, and downloadable content through the Playstation Store is just one of our areas of focus,” said Grace Chen, Senior Manager for the Playstation Store.
“We anticipate that this price adjustment will meet the expectations of our Canadian consumers and provide them with a better Playstation Network experience.”
Sony this month revamped the Playstation Store in the U.S. to a native application for the Playstation 3 rather than the web-based store front used in the previous version.
The new Playstation Store features new browsing categories, including “New Releases”, “Downloadable Games”, “View All By Title”, “Add-Ons”, “Demos”, “Videos”, “Themes & Wallpapers”, and “Featured Items”.
Nearly 900 pieces of content are currently available, including PS3 games, PSone titles, game demos and videos, Blu-ray disc movie trailers, game themes, wallpapers, and more.
NPD Group Inc. this month reported that the PS3 sold 257,120 units in Mar. U.S. sales to rank as the No. 5 video game hardware for the month.
