April 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV passed Nintendo Co.’s Mario Kart Wii in the top ten at Amazon.com this week as both titles made their debut to U.S. retail.

On Wed., GTA IV for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked as the No. 2 and No. 3 best-selling product in the Video Games division, respectively, ahead of Mario Kart Wii at No. 4 and behind Wii Fit at No. 1.

Grand Theft Auto IV is the next chapter in the best-selling Grand Theft Auto franchise. The Xbox 360 version will include two downloadable episodes available exclusively on Xbox Live.

The title focuses on Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who travels to Liberty City.

Released on Sun., Mario Kart Wii is the latest installment in the racing franchise. The $49.99 SKU includes the new Wii Wheel peripheral for wireless racing action.

Amazon this week began offering a new $30 retail discount when customers purchase Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and a copy of GTA IV.

Additionally, it price cut the Wii Wheel to $9.99, down from a $14.99 MSRP.
