Microsoft Corp. this week said that it will price cut the Xbox 360 in select Asian markets to spur sales of video game hardware.
Microsoft will discount prices in Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Prices will fall between five and 20 percent in markets, with the largest cut taken in Singapore.
The Xbox 360 has failed to attract attention in Asia due to lack of consistent game offerings that appeal to consumers in the territory.
The hardware ranks last in Japan weekly tallies, selling only an average of 1,000 units per week.
Microsoft last month discounted the Xbox 360 in Europe to as low as 199.99 euros for an entry level system.
The console continues to hold strong sales in the U.S. on action-oriented titles.
NPD Group Inc. this week said that the Xbox 360 sold 262,000 units in Mar. to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the month in the U.S.
Microsoft this month posted a $89 million profit in the The Entertainment and Devices division in the fiscal third quarter. The division includes the Xbox business.
