Amazon.com this week disclaimed a purchase limit for Nintendo Co.’s Wii Fit game title following the start of pre-orders for the product earlier this week.
On the product page the retailer states, “In an effort to provide as many customers as possible with the opportunity to purchase a Wii Fit, we are limiting the total number of Wii Fits that can be purchased.”
Amazon is allowing each household a total of three Wii Fit purchases.
The company imposes a similar restriction on Wii game consoles, allowing a total of three to be purchased per household.
Wii Fit, due out on May 17, is likely to be a smash hit among Wii owners, all of whom were introduced to the hardware by the included Wii Sports title.
The $89.99 SKU will include the Wii Balance Board to facilitate more than 40 yoga, aerobics, and strength training exercises.
In Wii Fit, each user can set individual fitness goals and keep track of their progress over time.
All activities are said to improve body balance and fitness.
The title was released in Dec. 2007 in Japan and has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the territory.
Best Buy Co. Inc. stores this month began marketing Wii Fit near fitness DVDs in retail stores. The game advertises the slogan, “How Will It Move You?”.
Nintendo this month will release the racing title Mario Kart Wii on Apr. 27. The SKU will include a new Wii Wheel peripheral for wireless racing action.
