An Old Snake is featured on the U.S. box of Konami Corp.’s Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, the highly anticipated next installment in the stealth action franchise.
The full portrait shot of an aging protagonist is a strong theme for the franchise, who continues to fight in a war against series villain Liquid Snake in the latest installment.
The title is a high-profile exclusive for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, which has seen increased demand in the U.S. based on Jan. and Feb. sales figures.
New features in Guns of the Patriots include an active camouflage to adapt to surroundings, a threat ring to denote enemy activity, and over-the-shoulder camera.
Sony in Feb. said that it will retail a new 80GB PS3 SKU in Q2 to coincide with the release of the stand-alone game.
Konami in Oct. 2007 delayed Metal Gear Solid 4, citing the need to make further improvements to the quality of the game.
A pre-sale program will allow customers to enter a beta test for Metal Gear Online scheduled for Apr.
The title will be among the first new games to be compatible with Sony’s Dualshock 3 controller, which includes rumble functionality not found in the Sixaxis controller.
Konami in Mar. released Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PS2, which includes all three chapters in the series.
