Nintendo Co.’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii home video game system ranked as the No. 1 video game title at Amazon.com and Amazon Japan on Tues.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, released on Jan. 31 in Japan, is the latest entry in the popular character game fighting franchise.
The title will be released in the U.S. on Mar. 9.
To date the Wii has sold 7.4 million units in the states on strong casual offerings. Top titles include Wii Sports, Wii Play, and Super Mario Galaxy.
Nintendo Co. last month posted a profit increase of 63 percent on strong sales for the Wii home video game system and the Nintendo DS handheld.
Third-quarter net income increased to 126.5 billion yen ($1.2 billion).
The sales forecast for Wii was raised to 18.5 million, an increase from a target of 17.5 million. In addition, it raised the sales forecast for the Nintendo DS to 29.5 million units by fiscal Mar.
