Amazon.com this week price cut Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 Blu-ray disc Remote to $19.99 in the latest round of video game discounts.
The peripheral, released in Jan. 2007, typically sells for $24.99.
Retailers this week, including Best Buy, Circuit City and Amazon.com are offering incentives to purchase high-definition products.
Amazon this week is offering Blu-ray disc titles as low as $14.99 and up to 53 percent off select Blu-ray disc titles.
Sony in Dec. said it was on track to ship 11 million PS3 units to worldwide territories, however analysts predict that the company may fall short of the target.
In Jan., Sony said it moved 1.2 million PS3 units to U.S. retailers in the Dec. holiday period.
In Oct. it price cut the PS3 in Japan by 10 percent. This month the company said it will discontinue the 20GB and 60GB model in Japan to concentrate on the 40GB SKU.
