
Nintendo Co.’s Wii Fit game title held the No. 1 sales at Amazon Japan on Tues. as consumers continue to flex towards the fitness title for the Wii home video game system.
Wii Fit, released on Dec. 1 in the region, features more than 40 exercises in aerobics, muscle training, and yoga.The title has sold nearly 750,000 units in Japan in four weeks of release.
Nintendo debuted Wii Fit in July 2007 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Santa Monica, CA. The product will be sold early next year at an undisclosed price.
The fitness title is an entry that will allow the company to continue to expand into the casual games market.
Nintendo in Nov. sold 350,000 Wii units in the U.S. to take the top sales honor for Thanksgiving week sales.
Nintendo in Oct. raised profit forecast estimates on strong demand for the Wii and Nintendo DS handheld. It expects to sell 17.5 million Wii units this business year.
