Amazon.com on Mon. price cut the game title Assassin’s Creed for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 to $44.99 in the latest round of video game software discounts.
Assassin’s Creed typically retails for $59.99. It was released in Nov. 2007.
Amazon has previously held steep discounts to spur select video game sales.
The retailer discounted the PS3 Sixaxis controller to $19.99 on Black Friday, the annual shopping day after Thanksgiving.
Sony in Nov. said Playstation 3 sales increased 245 percent during Thanksgiving week as shoppers gobbled the newly price cut video game hardware.
Sony in Oct. recorded a 96.7 billion yen loss in the game division that was offset by a quarterly profit from strong electronics sales.
