Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 outpaced sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii in Nov. Japan sales. Sony price cut the PS3 in Japan in Oct. to spur retail sales.

Sales for the PS3 title Winning Eleven 2008 ranked in the top three software sales in Japan upon debut. The title was also released for the Playstation 2.

Sony this week said that Microsoft’s estimates of PS3 unit sales for Thanksgiving week are way off. Microsoft this week claimed a 2-to-1 lead for the Xbox 360 over PS3 in Thanksgiving week sales.

Pre-orders for the PS3 title Gran Turismo 5 Prologue ranked ahead of Nintendo’s Wii Fit at Amazon Japan. Both titles are scheduled to be released in Dec.

Wal-Mart this week offered a PS3 holiday bundle with free items to online customers. The Walmart.com promotion included a game a Blu-ray remote at no additional cost.

Amazon Japan this week price cut the all PS3 models by five percent to spur holiday sales. The hardware debuted in Japan in Nov. one year ago.

Sony this week said that PS3 sales increased 245 percent during Thanksgiving week. Sales included the $499 80GB model and the new $399 40GB model.

Midway Games Inc. this week said that Unreal Tournament 3 will be released to the PS3 in Dec. The title was previously delayed to spring 2008.

Sales for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 ranked far below rival offerings in the latest Japan retail sales figures. The hardware ranked No. 6 in overall hardware sales for the week.

Microsoft this week confirmed the deployment of the Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update for Dec. The new update will include new features and enhancements for Xbox Live members and Xbox 360 owners.

Sales for the Xbox 360 closed-in on Wii in Thanksgiving week U.S. sales. Additionally, the company said Xbox 360 software sales are on track to exceed Wii and PS3 software sales combined.

Hudson Entertainment this week blasted new content to the Xbox Live title Bomberman Live. New content includes a new theme and new gamerpics.

F.E.A.R. Files is a solid shooter for the Xbox 360. The title features stand-alone expansion levels and online multiplayer action.

American Express in Dec. will offer a $300 Xbox 360 Elite bundle in the My WishList holiday promotion. Cardholders will have the chance to purchase the Elite and five game titles at the discounted price.

Amazon.com this week discounted the Halo 3 Legendary Edition SKU for Xbox 360 to $59. The SKU carries an MSRP of $129.99.

Microsoft this week blasted Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe to Xbox Live. Both titles feature re-mastered high-definition graphics, new Achievements, and Leaderboards.

Wal-Mart this week offered a Cyber Monday Xbox 360 bundle to online customers. The bundle included an Xbox 360 Premium, extra controller, three games, and messenger bag for under $400.

Sales for Nintendo’s Wii struck back at the PS3 in the latest Japan retail sales figures. The Wii outsold the PS3 in the latest weekly sales after a two-week streak behind Sony’s latest Playstation.

Sales for Wii title Super Mario Galaxy launched back to the No. 1 position at Amazon.com this week on strong sales. The title previously held the top sales rank at the end of Oct.

GameStop this week began offering post-Christmas Wii bundles that will be delivered after the holiday season. The bundles start at $550 each.

Walmart.com this week sold out of a $677 Wii bundle that included extra controllers and a choice of six game titles. The retailer does not offer stand-alone sales of the hardware.

Retailers this month fired a premium to the Wii Zapper gun peripheral. Stores including Circuit City and GameStop sell the $19.99 peripheral for $24.99 to online customers.

Double Dribble this week lead a new wave of Virtual Console titles for Wii. Other new offerings included Vegas Stakes and Ecco Jr.

Nintendo DS sales soared past the PSP in the latest weekly sales figures from Japan. Sales for the software title Dragon Quest IV helped propel DS movement in the region.
