Sales for Konami Corp.’s Pro Evolution Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked in the top three software sales in the latest tally from Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the new soccer entry sold 141,432 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25.
Additionally, the Playstation 2 version ranked No. 2 with 292,926 units sold in the same period.
Overall the PS3 ranked five titles in the top 50 software sales.
PS3 hardware sales in the week topped 50,000 units to place just behind Nintendo Co.’s Wii at 54,000 units during the week.
Sony in Oct. price cut the PS3 by 10 percent in Japan to spur sales. The company last month recorded a 96.7 billion yen loss in the game division that was offset by a quarterly profit from strong electronics sales.
