
Toys R Us will reportedly offer a free $25 gift card with the purchase of Super Mario Galaxy for Nintendo Co.’s Wii home video game system.
A Cheap Ass Gamer forum poster on Sat. uploaded an image of a future Toys R Us circular that disclaims the free gift card offer on the Tues. following the title’s Nov. 12 release date.
Super Mario Galaxy is the next-installment in the Mario franchise and the first entry for the Wii. The title will include motion-sensitive gameplay on intergalactic planets.
This month, Nintendo will retail a new $19 Wii Zapper gun peripheral. The option will offer new shooter titles to the console, including Sega Corp.’s Ghost Squad and Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.
Nintendo last week raised profit forecast estimates on strong demand for the Wii and Nintendo DS handheld. It expects to sell 17.5 million Wii units this business year.
Nintendo has shipped 13.2 million Wii units to date worldwide.
