
Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation decreased in the latest Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the PS3 sold 10,732 between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23, a 19 percent decline from a total of 13,101 units the week prior.
The PS3 ranked two titles in the top 50 game sales for the week, Everybody’s Golf 5 at No. 27 and Bladestorm at No. 32.
The PS3 ranked as the No. 5 best-selling video game hardware for the week, behind Sony Corp.’s PSP, Nintendo Co.’s DS Lite and Wii.
Sony in July price cut the 60GB PS3 by $100 in the U.S. It introduced an 80GB model in Aug.
The PS3 has sold more than 1 million units in Japan. Sales in the U.S. have reached 1.75 million units as of Aug.
